Amy Meier Brings Art Nouveau Charm to Kips Bay Palm Beach 2019

Interior designer Amy Meier of Amy Meier Design brought radiant warmth and comfort to an outdoor seating area, dining space, and outdoor kitchen at the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach 2019.

The House Tipster Industry team spoke with Meier at this year’s show house unveiling, and shared how she let the Florida destination inspire her latest creation.

“Our room is inspired by the Art Nouveau movement down here in Palm Beach,” Meier explained. “We call it Nouvelle Nouveau. So it’s the contemporary and feminine take on Nouveau.”

You will also see elements of Southern Florida nature drawn into Meier’s designs, including oversized leaves created in sprawling metal works.

“To the core of our design is based in Sutherland furniture; and David DeSantis, who is an amazing metalsmith; and Dacor provided all of our appliances,” she added, crediting her show sponsors.

While Meier was deeply inspired by Floridian design movements for her space, she herself hails from California. The designer explained that she takes geography into consideration for her works – and adds in her personal flair.

“Our firm is based in Southern California, so I truly believe all spaces should be of place, no matter where they are, and yet have a casual and easy elegance to them,” she said. “We love well-edited, very intentional design, mixed with contemporary and antique findings.”

The Kips Bay Decorator Show House is an annual design tradition that benefits programming for the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach County. Not only did Meier love the chance to transform her space in her own signature style, but she was thrilled to be able to give back to the organization.

“When I was asked to participate in the Kips Bay Show House, obviously I gave a resounding yes,” she said. “I love the Boys & Girls Club, we participate in Southern California. I think this is an absolute great cause, and an incredible show house.”
