Each month, paint brand Dunn-Edwards announces a new Color of the Month pick to look out for in the next 30 days ahead.
June 2020’s Color of the Month has been revealed as the perfectly-named Summer Sun DE5405, a cheery and electric yellow that will be everywhere we look this season: at beaches, in our freshly-grown fruits, and in our backyards.
“The color is bold and intense — like bottled sunlight,” the brand shared in its monthly design blog. Beyond sunshine, yellow conjures so many images of summer — the flesh of sweet, juicy pineapples; umbrellas lining white sand beaches; and the perfectly bittersweet lemons in a glass of refreshing lemonade.”
Amidst COVID-19 and gradual re-openings across the country, Dunn-Edwards sees this color as an opportunity to find joy outdoors, or bring that sun indside.
“As the world slowly starts to emerge as the days grow long and maybe even hot, it’s the perfect time to embrace a yellow shade like Summer Sun, which reminds us that even the grayest of skies and the saddest of times give way to breezier, brighter days ahead,” the brand shared on its website.
The brand recommends Summer Sun paired with more vibrant shades of the season, including a saturated aqua like Plunging Waterfall (DE5751), crisp whites, or several shades of neutral grays like Silhouette (DE6276) and Gray Wonder (DE6309).
