This September, Parisian global design fair Maison & Objet is ready to celebrate America. The show will be taking place from September 6-10 in France, and will be spotlighting up-and-coming American designers during that time through the Rising Talent Awards.
Past Rising Talent Awards have honored emerging talents across China, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Lebanon. This year, event organizers said they have chosen the United States, “to shine the spotlight on a nation whose size and cultural diversity have led to impressive design achievements.”
The American rising talents honored in the 2019 showcase are Alex Brokamp, a 27-year-old environmental design master’s student at Art Center College of Design in California; Bailey Fontaine, a 23-year-old working in New York after studying product design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; Green River Project, a New York gallery by artists Ben Bloomstein , 31, an Aaron Aujla, 32; Brooklyn design studio Harold, by Reed Hansuld and Joel Siegle; Kin & Compnay, a design studio by cousins Kira de Paola, 38, and Joseph Vidich, 41; and 30-year-old RISD-trained Brooklyn designer Rosie Li.
This year’s awards jury consisted of Rafael de Cárdenas of Architecture at Large, Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat of WantedDesign, Nasir Kassamali of Luminaire, architect David Rockwell, Bernhard Design’s Jerry Helling, and Rhode Island School of Design president Rosanne Somerson.
The Rising Talent Awards honorees will be able to exhibit their creations among the greatest brands, artisans, and designers during the next Maison & Objet event in Paris. We can’t wait to see their incredible work in action.
