And at the recent ICFF South Florida expo, Chad Oppenheim used his keynote speech to discuss the premise of this book and detail the concrete ways he blurs nature and architecture to create international masterpieces.

The Spirit of Place is a 236-page ode to building along with nature, not over it. The anthology touches on the ways form follows feeling, and how Oppenheim relies on natural resources and the physical landscape to inspire his architecture.

Ilona Creative Studio designed and arranged over 500 stunning images that were featured in the book. These images work together to tell the story of Oppenheim’s projects in over 25 countries, and ultimately promote his vision of a more spirit-based design process.

Oppenheim also takes this message on the road; speaking at international book fairs, architect associations, and industry trade shows such as ICFF.

“Like an archeologist, we try to uncover the truth of a site…Searching for an architecture that becomes one with its surroundings while amplifying the connection to place,” stated Oppenheim.
