As paint-shopping customers influence the conversation surrounding all the brand’s business decisions, this Color of the Year pick was actually selected by Diamond Vogel customers in a crowdsourcing event during September.

Sandy Agar-Studelska, Diamond Vogel’s marketing manager, explained that Day Spa stands out as a calming and secure selection. No surprise that’s so popular!

“This deep, introspective blue offers quiet reflection and a sense of security at a time we need it most,” said Agar-Studelska in a statement. “Day Spa unites us with nature, as well as mind and body, and its ageless presence makes it versatile no matter space.”

The brand calls this versatile saturated navy color “a powerful accent that showcases one’s personal style and creates a dramatic backdrop for daily living.”

“Day Spa pairs well with both warm and cool neutrals including grays, and is a stunning standalone accent,” Diamond Vogel shared about the shade. “Quiet spaces using natural materials and earth inspired colors help to create places of comfort and inner peace.”

Not only is Day Spa perfect for interior uses, but Diamond Vogel suggests this paint color as a lively outdoor option. Use it on a door, a deck, or to distinguish an outdoor seating arrangement for great effect.

“Day Spa unites us with nature, as well as mind and body, and its ageless presence makes it versatile no matter the space,” the brand said in a release. “This deep, introspective blue offers quiet reflection and a sense of security.”

The selection of Day Spa as the Color of the Year 2019 comes from Diamond Vogel’s complete year trend report, comprised of the four directional color story palettes named Inner Shift, Re-Tool, Boundless, and Connecting Our Dreams.

Day Spa sets the tone for Inner Shift, a soft, nature-based color story inspired by “quiet spaces using natural materials and earth inspired colors [that] help us find places of comfort and inner peace.”

“Our blurred and hurried lives along with increased reliance on technology find us trying to make sense of a world that has seemingly gone mad,” the brand explained. “Looking inward and focusing on what makes us happy and secure can lead to a shift in thinking and priorities.”

Other candidates for the 2019 Color of the Year included Plateau 0704, Gold Taffeta 0276, and New Foliage 0400. These three shades can also be found in the brand’s color story palettes, and will likely remain influential throughout the upcoming year.
