Jose Leite de Castro Returns for Maison Objet Winter 2019

Jose Leite de Castro began his eponymous interior and product design firm in the 1980s, and quickly became known throughout Portugal and the region for his classic, contemporary styles.

Today, JLC’s furniture and decor lines continue to grow in size and scope as evidenced by his latest showing at Maison et Objet.

During the 2019 winter Maison et Objet design expo, the House Tipster team had the chance to speak with the owner and lead designer Jose Leite de Castro about his 12th return to Paris.

The collection he showcased this year at Maison featured a very natural aesthetic.  Color, in particular, was a big focus for 2019. “We find colors that combine with the tonality of the wood,” Leite de Castro explained, such as the Sofa Langen in what resembles a camel tone in velvet.

However, Leite de Castro doesn’t expect to keep this style stagnant. “We keep evolving. We will do different [styles] in the future, but we always keep traditional lines.”

Not only does JLC design and produce every piece of furniture, but they also create superior upholstery, lighting, fabrics, and other home accessories.

Above all else, the company is dedicated to quality: “Quality in design. Quality in production. Quality in service. Exclusivity and Flexibility.”
