Jane Seymour and Michael Amini’s Fashion-Forward Furniture

Throughout the past decade, Jane Seymour and Michael Amini have created household furniture that merges Hollywood-chic with fashion-forward accents.

“It’s a successful marriage,” said Seymour about her 10-year professional relationship with luxury furniture designer.

House Tipster host and interior designer Christopher Grubb had the opportunity to speak with the design duo at the 2019 Las Vegas Winter Market where they were showcasing their latest products for the Michael Amini|Jane Seymour Living collection.

“The deco influence, the lines, the ‘Hollywood Chic,’ it’s an incredible look,” Grubb told Amini and Seymour.

The general feeling here is of fashion and evolution, which builds on Amini’s traditional, old-world look and adds elements of bling and glam. By partnering with Seymour, Amini picked up on her contemporary vibe and created a furniture lineup that’s attractive to consumers across the board. “These collections are transitional,” said Amini, “so we get the best of both worlds.”

Art deco, one of the collection’s strongest design aesthetics, is on full display throughout a number of lines, including Glimmering Heights and Hollywood Swank Starry Night. “I always told Michael how much I love the deco and nouveau periods; it’s in keeping with old Hollywood,” Seymour explained. However apparent, the deco elements aren’t overwhelming in the least, meaning that these pieces can go into any room, not necessarily a themed space.

Grubb couldn’t help but notice the metal knuckles on the dining table leg, mixed metals, and other intricate design details that make this collection stand out while at the same time remain approachable and inviting. Timeless metallics like champagne glass and platinum are always trending, and make the space visually interesting.

“Furniture needs to be beautiful, practical, and fit your lifestyle,” Amini told Grubb. Keeping this in mind, Amini and Grubb use technological and space-saving solutions to ensure their customers get a top-tier product. For example, you’ll find hidden storage in dressers and in-bed USB ports.

If you’re looking for a starter piece, Seymour recommends a Lingerie Cabinet (available under multiple collections), which is a common lead-in product for her furniture customers.

Although Seymour and Amini have ten years of partnership under their belts, their furniture designs are just getting started.

“We’re expanding and evolving,” Seymour admits. We’re looking forward to new lines, including furniture for the home office and bathroom vanities in the near future.
