Martyn Lawrence Bullard

Los Angeles-based English designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard is a design “triple threat.”

When he’s not dazzling his clients with Hollywood Glamour-inspired interior designs, Bullard is busy authoring books and starring as one of design television’s most well-recognized personalities.

Architectural Digest named Bullard one of the world’s most influential designers nine years in a row, and for good reason. Describing his work as sophisticated with an eclectic-edge only scratches the surface of what Martyn Lawrence Bullard brings to the table.

Design Aesthetic

Why do A-list clients like Sir Elton John, Aaron Sorkin, Cher, Eva Mendes, Khloe Kardashian, and Patti LaBelle rely on Bullard for their interior design needs?

It all boils down to detail.

Bullard designs interiors that meet his client’s needs by infusing a special blend of modern and recycled products with antique and contemporary vibes. This juxtaposition works in creating environments that are characteristically intricate and personal, without being purposefully on-trend.

“I focus on styles that make…my clients happy–with items that are layered, piece by piece, with love,” he said.

You may notice an antique decoration sitting on a modern bookshelf, or an ornate Italian tapestry contrasting with a Morocco-inspired geometric rug. It’s these subtle contrasts that elevate his designs to the next level.

Prominent Media

Bullard’s unique style and enchanting personality translate seamlessly to the small screen. He’s starred as host and guru on fan-favorites such as UK Channel 4’s Hollywood Me, and Bravo’s Million Dollar Decorators.

You can also add 4,000 publications to his vast resume. Yes, you read that number right. Bullard’s work is regularly featured in prominent publications such as Architectural Digest, ELLE Decor, House Beautiful, and the New York Times, to name a few.

Bullard is also the author of two books, Martyn Lawrence-Bullard: Live, Love, and Decorate and Martyn Lawrence Bullard: Design and Decoration, which detail his work and highlight some of his favorite projects and features. Interior design lovers can find advice, anecdotes, and above all, inspiration spread throughout the pages.

Product Lines

You don’t have to be a famous actress to experience Bullard’s creations for yourself. In fact, his signature style is available to the masses through Bullard’s numerous product lines.

In a recent collaboration with boutique lighting manufacturer, Corbett, Bullard has created the ultimate, glamour-inspired lighting line.  Each design features Bullard’s signature style via mixed metals, various colors, and bold accents. Bullard used Coco Chanel as the inspiration for “Magic Garden”’s intricate and sexy floral designs, and Murano glass for the stunning “Flight of Fancy.”

Rattan, one of Bullard’s current favorite materials, is on full display through the soft and tropical “Carayes” fixture.

Bullard’s ongoing partnership with Frontgate has resulted in three exclusive collections complete with modern yet wide-ranging home decor, home furnishings, and art sold online and at his atelier shop on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood.

Whether he’s working on tile lines for Ann Sacks, wallpaper with Cole & Son, or a variety of indoor and outdoor fabrics, furniture, and home accessories, you can be sure that Bullard’s fabulous style is thoroughly infused.

What’s Next?

In the coming months, Bullard is set to unveil a new collection of jewelry designed for both men and women. He’s also scheduled to visit a number of design expos in 2019, including Maison et Objet.
