HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams has named the teal blue-green hue Reflecting Pool as its trending Color of the Year 2019 pick.

In addition to the top color choice, the brand has also released three color palettes they believe will be influencing design in 2019. They are the adventurous and unexpected Sophisticated Whimsy palette; the energizing blend called Mystic Light; and the calm, environmentally-inspired Everyday Balance trio.

Reflecting Pool is a versatile shade that can work well with all of the above color selections. According to a brand press release, it is described as a “color of many personalities,” and is part of a collection aimed at inspiring openness and positivity.

Depending on its usage, the paint color can stand out as a bold and vibrant hue, or bring some soothing, oceanic vibes to a more neutral palette.

“Found in the Sophisticated Whimsy Color Collection, it is a versatile color that is fun and elegant,” HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams shared in a statement. “However, when combined with natural hues of our Everyday Balance Color Collection, it is soft and calm. Pair it with the vivid colors of Mystic Light Color Collection and it is energizing and bold!”

The brand adds that the color “speaks to our desire to have a life of balance but with a bit of flair.”

Ashley Banbury, the senior color designer at HGVT Home by Sherwin Williams, said all of the year’s carefully selected color collections are aimed at bringing out individuals’ customized design dreams.

“The 2019 Color Collections of the Year encourage consumers to travel down a path of self-discovery through coordinated palettes that easily help them bring their color vision to life,” Banbury shared in a press statement.

Nancy Fire, HGTV Home design director, added that all of the trending palettes are curated to make homeowners feel confident in their paint and color selection process.

“The 2019 HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams Color Collections of the Year provide a curated, yet contemporary choice in updated and fresh color alternatives for interiors,” Fire said in a statement. “The design sensibility of Mystic Light, Sophisticated Whimsy and Everyday Balance Color Collections allow our consumer to be the arbiter of style when it comes to picking palettes of color for their next home painting project.”

Reflecting Pool plus the 23 other colors in HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams’ 2019 Color Collections will be sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores.
