Up-and-Coming Designers Honored at Maison & Objet Rising Talent Awards 2019

The Fall 2019 Rising Talent Awards at Maison & Objet recognized up-and-coming USA-based designers and brands Bailey Fontaine, Green River Project, Harold, Alex Brokamp, Kin & Company, and Rosie Li.

This season, House Tipster Industry teamed up with our partners, Interior Design Society and Maison trend ambassador Patti Carpenter, to journey to Paris, France and take in the awards ceremony firsthand. We also had the opportunity to speak with each of the talented designers and hear about their latest cutting-edge work.

Over the past few years, these prestigious design awards have been given to rising talents in different countries around the world – including the United Kingdom, Italy, and Lebanon – but the 2019 edition was all about celebrating American innovation.

Alex Brokamp, a 27-year-old environmental design master’s student at Art Center College of Design in California; Bailey Fontaine, a 23-year-old creator working in New York after studying product design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; Green River Project, a New York gallery by artists Ben Bloomstein , 31, an Aaron Aujla, 32; Brooklyn design studio Harold, by Reed Hansuld and Joel Siegle; Kin & Company, a design studio by cousins Kira de Paola, 38, and Joseph Vidich, 41; and 30-year-old RISD-trained Brooklyn designer Rosie Li; all showcased a selection of their work at Maison & Objet before being recognized for their achievements.

These talented artists showcased modern art, contemporary furniture designs, and more exceptional pieces within the halls of Maison’s event space. From their exhibitions, it’s clear why this group of designers are being recognized on an international scale.

Included in the awards jury for this year’s honors are esteemed industry experts like Rafael de Cárdenas of Architecture at Large, Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat of WantedDesign, Nasir Kassamali of Luminaire, architect David Rockwell, Bernhard Design’s Jerry Helling, and Rhode Island School of Design president Rosanne Somerson.
