At Maison et Objet, It’s All About the Je Ne Sais Quoi

Mass production, globalization, and the standardization of design have left many designers and design enthusiasts looking for more.

A prevailing opinion is that the furniture and decor industry is lacking a certain je ne sais quoi; an interesting, effortless allure and sense of chicness common in French design and culture. Thankfully, we have the biannual Maison et Objet to help bring the essence of fabulous French style to the masses.

This January, Maison et Objet’s “Inspiration Theme” is a play on the increased interest in French style. Excuse My French encapsulates the “Made in France” craze by highlighting the show’s French brands and uniquely French accents.

THE TREND FORUM: Excuse my French!

Arguably, the best example of Excuse My French will be presented at the Maison Trend Forum, a 250 square meter (2,691 square feet) area located in Hall 7. There, you’ll find French-inspired furniture and decor exuding everything from theatrical flair to contemporary items.

According to Vincent Gregoire of NellyRodi, the Trend Forum is the place to go to get your fill of je ne sais quoi at the Market. “There will be disruptive, dissonant elements and a spirit of contradiction. They’re an integral part of that je ne sais quoi.”
