Dallas-local designer Kristi Hopper of Kristi Hopper Designs was the perfect person to show the House Tipster Industry team around during this Fall 2019 season of Dallas Market Center’s Dallas Design Week. Hopper took our host Christopher Grubb through the C. Maddox & Company showroom, and shared her thoughts on upcoming color and accessory trends.

“In Dallas, we’re so lucky to have Dallas Market Center in our backyard,” Hopper shared. “I come here once or twice a week and source here daily. In this showroom, everything is available off the floor, so I can do a room really quickly, and it’s very high-style. It’s not like going to a normal furniture store: it’s things that I would actually order myself.”

As far as colors go, Hopper is seeing a huge trend developing from a beloved classic.

“We just did the ColorMix, which we do in Dallas every year, it’s the biggest CDU in the country,” Hopper said. “So Sherwin-Williams’ Color of the Year is navy, and there’s navy all over – [as seen in] a navy vase, a navy bed.”

“Navy for us is a big neutral, it’s got a little color but it doesn’t scream at you,” she added. “I’ve been doing navy islands and navy walls and accessories for a few years now, so I was glad to see that was the color of the year.”

To complement those timeless rich blue shades, Hopper also sees beautiful mixed metallics – especially gold – standing out in fixtures and making a splash this season.
