Interior designer Michelle Morgan Harrison of Connecticut-based Morgan Harrison Home partnered with fine furniture brand Welsey Hall for the 2019 Hampton Designer Showhouse. This season, the team created a light and airy master bedroom filled with charm for the Southampton, New York showcase.
The House Tipster Industry team was able to catch up with the designer as she unveiled her room at a press preview event, a benefit for the Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. There, Harrison explained that she went into the design focused on layering colors and luxurious textiles.
“The concept for the room is really all about texture, and the original concept was to create an envelope of this really warm, subtle, and calming nude-pink color,” Harrison said. “[We went about] creating an envelope by having the drapes and ceiling all in the same tone, and from there layering in other colors – primarily a celadon green and deeper teal with a more masculine edge of black.”
“It’s layers and layers of texture, from the thick and cozy Moroccan rug, to fringed details on the drapes,” Harrison said of the mix.
The additional layering of curated art has “really punctuated the textures and colors of the room,” the designer added.
For their part in bringing this enchanting outdoor space to life, Morgan Harrison Home credits a list of luxury vendors and brands, including Addison Weeks, Apandana Fine Rugs, Brimar, Circa Lighting, Cowtan & Tout, Diane James Home, Donghia, Fabricut, Forbes & Lomax, Heather Gaudio Fine Art, Julian Chichester, Kravet, Larsen, Made Goods, Oly, Osbourne & Little, Peacock Alley, Romo, Samuel & Sons, Socco Designs, Taffard Fabrics, Traditional Drapery, Tulsi, Simmer + Rhode, and of course – Wesley Hall.
