House Tipster host and Arch-Interiors designer Christopher Grubb was able to speak with Valencich in the Baldwin Hardware booth at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair, who gave us the scoop on how this special line all came about.
Valencich’s experience in the design industry is vast and extensive – and has all brought her to the latest milestone she’s now celebrating: a custom Baldwin Hardware line.
“I started my design firm about 16 years ago, based in Los Angeles, but we also have an office in New York and work all around the country,” Valencich shared. “Mostly high-end residential, but I’ve done some hospitality, I did a big hotel in Vegas.”
“Then, I have a custom furniture line: when I started my design firm, I started making custom furnishings, that’s called Erinn V,” she added. “It’s all sold to designers, and hand made in Los Angeles. I now have a collection with Baldwin called Hollywood Hills.”
This dazzling new collection consists of fabulous mixed metals, and door knobs and plates that come in all of Baldwin’s 19 signature finishes.
“I was very strategically looking for partners to do licensed product collections with: I have lighting, I have some rugs, and accessories,” Valencich explained of the partnership. “For door hardware, I was like, ‘Who else?’ [but Baldwin?] It’s all still hand made to order, I love their story. We started working together about four years ago, and the line just came out a year and half ago.”
“It’s inspired by 1920s industrial modernism,” the designer said. “I really wanted something that was timeless, that could warm up a modern house, and also be put on a traditional home to give it a little bit more of a clean line.”
