Christopher Guy Opens Up About His Personal Design Philosophy

The House Tipster Industry team was thrilled to be in attendance for the Christopher Guy NYC showroom opening at the New York Design Center last week. The monumental event marked a new start for the upscale furniture and design brand, which is now pivoting its focus to direct consumer shopping.

But at the exciting grand opening event, our editors also had the great privilege to speak candidly with founder, designer, and CEO Christopher Guy Harrison.

In an up close and personal series of sit-down interview videos, the legendary creator spoke about his new business direction, reflecting on both the state of his current career and the different opportunities and challenges that got him to where he is today. He finds both creative inspiration and strategic brand moves from some of the world’s biggest fashion brands, car manufacturers, and more – and it is compelling to see his mind turn those sources into works of genius.

In part two of our candid discussion, the designer opens up even more about his life before design, including his early school and childhood days at home. Plus, he reflects on how the state of the industry has transformed during his own professional years at work.

The CG NY Showroom is now open on the ground level of the New York Design Center in Manhattan, located at 200 Lexington Avenue between 32nd and 33rd Streets. Make sure to stop by to check out the latest furniture collection and find your own next surge of inspiration.
