As the owner of B. Garcia Designs, Garcia uses her 20+ years of direct design experience to create lifestyle-focused environments for her clients, who include reality television stars and NFL football players.
When she’s not working one-on-one with these clients, Garcia is busy starring in design television’s hottest shows. Over the past few years, Garcia has lent her expertise on HGTV’s Design Star and was featured as a principal designer for five seasons on Travel Channel’s popular makeover show: Hotel: Impossible.
Not surprisingly, the New Jersey-native’s eclectic yet timeless designs are regularly featured in top industry and national publications such as The Wall Street Journal, US Magazine, HGTV, House Tipser, and HouseSmarts. She has also authored a number of design-specific columns for The Record and The Star-Ledger, and wrote the book Empowered Design: A Design Plan for Living.
Garcia’s Signature Look
Blanche Garcia readily admits that she’s not inventing the wheel with her designs. However, she is helping reinvent it by “taking a nod to the past and bringing my own infusion.”
One great example of Garcia’s uncanny ability to meld period designs with modern flair is her latest project: TRYP by Wyndham Newark Downtown. This historic building located in the heart of New Jersey’s largest city was built in the 1920s, and because of Garcia, its current deco-inspired interior harks back to the buildings original designs. “We design a cool lounge and restaurant, and all 101 rooms… It’s definitely not cookie cutter,” she explained.
Metallics combined with mohairs, velvets, and jewel tones create a sexy silhouette and a 1920s-mood in this TRYP hotel and other recent Garcia-designs.
Lighting also plays a significant role in Garcia’s creations. By designing specific lighting zones around the room, she can achieve a particular mood on any type of budget.

When she’s not designing through her firm, B. Garcia Designs, Garcia shares her perspective and relevant anecdotes with fellow designers who may need a career boost or a smidge of inspiration.
