“These five tones are set to make the biggest impact in 2020 – a year when the future truly arrives, as advances in science and technology reach the mainstream,” WSGN Color Director Jane Boddy said in a statement.

Below, we’re detailing all five of Coloro’s top picks for the upcoming year, and detailing how we expect to see the colors in action across design disciplines.

Neo-Mint

Chances are, you’ve seen softer pastel versions of your childhood favorite colors taking off across the spaces of fashion, home decor, and beyond. Coloro predicts that the latest iteration of the monumentally impactful Millennial Pink will continue on with Neo-Mint.

“Neo-Mint is a new story for 2020, and evolves from the popularity of soft pastels, established by Millennial Pink,” Coloro explained. “This hue embodies a forward-thinking mood and an almost utopian optimism, as events such as Tokyo’s Olympics and NASA’s Mars Rover bring the future to the present.”

Out of the full Coloro 2020 list, we are the most excited to see this futuristic green in action.

Purist Blue

Classic blue is always in season, popular in everything from a bedroom wall color to a graphic t-shirt hue. The contemporary iteration of the shade is all about calmness and mental clarity.

“This is the latest stage in blue’s evolution from core to fashion color,” Coloro explained on its website. “It is softer and sunnier than the cobalts of recent seasons, but also has a coolness that feels crisp and contemporary.”

Mellow Yellow

Coloro has seen yellow emerging as a major fashion trend for several years now, and now predicts that the natural, retro shade will break through the genre.

“Sun-soaked and nostalgic… yellow is set to hit mass appeal in 2020 with this deeper, more grounded hue, which taps into the ongoing popularity of baked, earthy tones,” Coloro said of the mustard-toned Mellow Yellow.

Cassis

The blackcurrant-inspired shade Cassis works wonderfully across different disciplines, from cosmetics to table settings. The rich and romantic purple wine color is truly contemporary beyond just its appearances.

“Cassis fuses the pinks and purples that have made such a huge impact over recent seasons, capturing both the gender-neutral appeal of pink, and the modern appeal of purple,” Coloro explained in a press statement.

Cantaloupe

Neon brights are beautiful, but they’re tough to use all over a home or wardrobe. Enter: Cantaloupe, that proves vibrancy can also be soft.

“This is a milkier, more subdued version of the youthful oranges that have made such noise recently, with a feel-good quality that is perfect for high summer,” Coloro shared. “Cantaloupe also plays into the continuing appeal of typically feminine colors that can cross over to other categories.”
