Paint manufacturer Dunn-Edwards has chosen its trending Color of the Year 2020: Minty Fresh DE5687.
In the new decade of the 2020s ahead, we could all use a little bit of optimism – and a serious a mental recharge. That’s what this color symbolizes for Dunn-Edwards.
“Minty Fresh — an invigorating, sweet, cool and aromatic hue — defines 2020, as a range of grounded, garden-inspired shades heralds the opportunity for a fresh start,” the brand shared on its website. “With this mint-infused pastel hue, we are upbeat as we take an optimistic approach to creating and controlling elements that are within our power. And, as with many shades of green, nature is omnipresent, creating tranquility and balance between stillness and progress.”
“As a key color of the Dunn-Edwards 2020 color trends story, ‘Fresh and Free,’ Minty Free exudes a calm, clean and crisp high point to the color palette — water-soft and mentholated, revived in oxygenating nuances, a reflection of purity,” Dunn-Edwards added on its design trend blog. “A subtle and relaxing pastel that conveys the partnership between technology and nature.”
The brand recommends the color paired with a trim of Milk Glass DEW358 (a pale yellow-toned neutral) and accented with Muslin DE6277 (a crisp taupe).
Of course, it fits perfectly with the rest of the pastel-heavy “Fresh and Free” color palette for 2020, which also includes the shades Fresh Honeydew DE5477, Breath of Spring DE5478, Glacier Point DE5785, Tranquil Sea DE5932, Sweet Garden DE5696, Blue Bue DE5892, Dark Lagoon DEC788, Stone Bridge DE5747, Berry Frost DE5029, Barnwood Gray DET620, and Particular Mint DE6269.
This year’s shade is a calmer, more nature-inspired hue, as compared to the warm terracotta seen in 2019 Dunn-Edwards Color of the Year selection, Spice of Life.
