Color of the Year

Kelly-Moore Names Sun God Color of the Year 2020

Paint brand Kelly-Moore has named its trending Color of the Year 2020: Sun God KM5183.

Kelly-Moore calls Sun God “fiercely optimistic and independent,” and describes it as “a brash brassy yellow bursting onto the scene interrupting white rooms and monochromatic schemes with a statement of personal passion and confidence.”

“Bright yellow is showing up on faucets, cabinets, upholstery, accent walls, and more,” the brand said on its website. “It’s a fresh accent color that pairs with neutrals just as well as pink has over the past few years, but the look is more bold and grown up. Pink isn’t over yet, it’s just faded into dusty warm tones like terracotta; an unexpectedly versatile color that pairs beautifully with bright warm yellows and other saturated statement colors.”

Sun God is a central part of Kelly-Moore’s latest palettes for 2020, which include a mix of cool neutrals and statement shades, like Bechamel, Bauhaus Tan, Dragon’s Fire, Navy Damask, Snow Globe, Zebra Finch, Camping Trip, Bobcat Whiskers, Corkscrew Willow, Seaweed Wrap, Night White, Whale’s Mouth, Tobey Rattan, Silver Blueberry, and Persian Bazaar.

“There’s definitely a surge toward more colorful livable rooms with quirky shapes and personal touches,” said Shannon Kaye, Kelly-Moore Color Marketing Manager, in a press statement. “We’re excited about this trend, as some of our favorite colors are finally seeing the light of day. I think we’re looking for reassurance and stability in our homes right now. And yet, we also feel more emboldened than ever to buck trends and defy definition.”

Kelly-Moore Paints’ Color of the Year 2019 was the vibrant, teal-toned Peacock Blue. Sun God stands out as a distinct turn to optimism for the new 2020s decade ahead.
