Christopher Kennedy Teams Up with Wendover Art Group

Palm Springs-based interior designer Christopher Kennedy of Christopher Kennedy, Inc. has a keen eye for design. Aside from his California aesthetic, what sets Kennedy’s work apart from other designers is his focus on nostalgia.

“I am nostalgic for that simpler, more gracious time,” he told us at the Spring 2019 High Point Market. “I think that we as a society have a similar collective yearning.”

Kennedy’s signature look was on full display at the show, in a collaborative venture with Wendover Art Group. During an exclusive interview with Christopher Grubb, House Tipster host and president of Arch-Interiors Design Group, Kennedy spoke about his inspiration for this collection.

Much of the work from Christopher Kennedy for Wendover Art Group falls under the contemporary abstract and travel-inspired categories, although these descriptions just touch the surface of the collection. A strong mid-century, jet-setting aesthetic is particularly noticeable in Kennedy’s photography pieces featuring architectural landmarks and poolside scenes.

Kennedy’s graphics-heavy artwork features strong pops of color contrasted against black and white backdrops while still maintaining Kennedy’s throwback style. Interestingly, these works were created on tracing paper with a marker, just as Kennedy learned in architecture school.

Although there’s a definite classic California vibe, this artwork is extremely versatile. “There’s a softness and a vintage feel presented in a modern way,” he told House Tipster. Plus, each piece is made-to-order, customizable, and hand-embellished to ensure a picture-perfect finish at Wendover’s headquarters in Clearwater, Florida.

When Kennedy isn’t designing houses for the stars throughout the Golden State or putting together his latest collection for Wendover, you can find him spearheading philanthropic efforts in his Palm Springs Community. The Christopher Kennedy Compound Showhouse raises money to preserve local architecture and gives other designers essential exposure.

“After ten years of building a business, I wanted to give back to the town that has given me so much,” Kennedy explained.
