Debra Geller Interior Design created a “Creative Sanctuary” for a master bedroom office in this year’s Holiday House Hamptons show in Water Mill, New York. The charity show house’s upstairs space was transformed into a fashionable and functional place to live and work.
To bring this vibrant room to life, Geller worked with a great variety of vendors and artists, including Gabriel Scott, Christine Mottau, Fibre by Auskin, Mark Jupiter Custom Furniture, Osborne & Little, Hamptons Interiors, Luxe Pour Maison Inc., Todor Tsvetkov, Hampton Fabric and Blinds, and more.
House Tipster Industry host Alexis Parent of Alexis Parent Interiors spoke with designer Debra Geller at the 2019 show’s official unveiling event, where she learned all about the unique pieces that were used to turn this home office into a relaxing escape. Many items were custom-made, and curated to bring out an unexpectedly feminine side of the house.
“When I got this room, my first inclination was to make it a man’s study,” Geller told us. “Then, I thought, you know what? I need to make this into a space for a working mom. So I created a space that was going to be invigorating and amazing, and when you came into the space you could really feel very at home and soothing.”
The main focal point of this space is the large scale pink and purple flower print wallpaper, which was custom-made for the designer and this particular room by a vendor in Shanghai. Paired with romantic fabrics and a variety of upholstery textures, the dark and moody space also has a dose of fairy tale charm.
These vibrant florals are also reflected in a special peonies piece by a local Hamptons artist named Dean Johnson, who is a personal friend of Geller’s.
“It’s all hand-poured resin and all hand-painted. He did a great job with the gilding,” Geller said of the wall piece, which is modeled after a pair of glasses.
