There’s nothing more exciting than when it’s finally “Game Day,” which is why E. Lily Home’s recreation room at this year’s Holiday House Hamptons earned this fun title. Designer Tamara Elizabeth Fraser created an in-home destination to let loose and unwind in the newly-unveiled show house in Water Mill, New York.
“This rec room has two personalities: at one end it is playful and energetic, and at the other end, relaxed and serene,” Fraser shared in her show notes. “The sternum chaise placed by the fire would be the ultimate spot to relax and take it all in.”
House Tipster Industry guest host Alexis Parent of Alexis Parent Interiors spoke exclusively with Tamara Fraser at the 2019 charity show house’s recent press unveiling event. Through their interview, we learned about how she curated her special furniture selection to create a special escape for gamers and entertainers.
The standout features in this lower-level space are surely the great furniture pieces, including the game pieces, art installations, and comfortable seating. Of course, if you’re going to have friends over in your game room, or spend hours trying to beat your high score in a video game match, there need to be plenty of cozy couches and relaxing lounge chairs.
“I wanted to make the basement just a little bit more comfortable and cozy, to come down here and really feel at home [and not] formal,” the designer explained about her design.
The starting-off point for the entire game room was actually the centrally-placed, vibrant cerulean blue billiards table, which Fraser said also influenced the wall art selection.
“Dealing with this big of a space, we had to come up with the game table first,” the designer shared.
To make the room shine, E. Lily Home worked with a variety of incredible vendors, including Plexi-Craft, Blatt Billiards, Cowtan & Tout, Alexander Lamont Through Angela Brown Ltd., Anne Raymond Art, Intech Audio Video, Peter Margonelli, R. E. Steele Antiques, R & E Interiors, Marc Phillips Decorative Rugs, Forden & Co. Builders LLC, Larsen Textiles, Shed Textile Co., and more.
