Jimmy DeLaurentis’ newest collection combines the best of both worlds: sexy maturity and playful whimsy.
JAMES by Jimmy DeLaurentis has released their newest collection, Milan Collection. The collection was showcased at the June 5 – 9 High Point Market in North Carolina.
The new collection features premium upholstery and custom pet sofas. Jimmy DeLaurentis explained where he got his design inspiration.
“With this collection, I wanted to showcase another dimension of my design approach,” he said. “Until now my line has included a variety of softer silhouettes and a bright, vivid color palette.”
The designer looked to his personal Italian heritage, specifically the Italian city of Milan. The collection also has menswear-inspired elements.
“The collection brings a neutral color palette and a more masculine offering to my product line with a mix of visually striking silhouettes and layers of textures that evoke a sense of classic confidence.”
According to DeLaurentis, the collection rounds out its product line.
“It includes a variety of handsome pieces that would work well in many upscale spaces, ranging from commercial projects to luxury penthouses.”
The products, manufactured in Los Angeles, include everything from sofas, chairs, daybeds, and accent chairs in a variety of textiles, including velvet, mohair, wools, and textured leathers. In terms of color, the collection features a neutral palette in both solids and plaids.
The collection also features luxury pet sofas, designed to blend in with the other luxurious furniture in the line.
“[The pet beds take] the design aesthetic beyond furniture to bring consumers a unique experience that fully permeates a space with the ambiance and luxurious nature of the line,” said the brand’s press release.
The designer has also created a fun addition to the brand in the form of teddy bears.
“Adding a touch of playfulness is a signature element of my design aesthetic,” he explained. “In all of my work, whether it is an interior design project, or my line of furniture and accessories, I always combine opulence with a touch of whimsy.”
The new high-end teddy bears pair with furniture pieces in the JAMES line, with bears coordinating with the Amalfi Collection as well as the Milan Collection. The bears come in small, medium, and large, and range in retail price from $265 to $650.
“Available in a variety of fabrics and color combinations, the stylish, yet playful accessories were intended to add extra personality and an element of surprise to interiors,” described DeLaurentis. “Complete with leather collars, they are the perfect luxe accessory to add a little bit of my design aesthetic to a space.”
DeLaurentis premiered both collections at June’s High Point Market, the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world. This year, the brand doubled its showroom size. The showroom also featured items from past collections such as Amalfi Collection and the Classic Collection.
“As we continue to expand our brand in the luxury market, a larger footprint was a logical next step and InterHall remains an ideal location for our line as it is the premier showcase of design-driven, luxury products at High Point Market,” said DeLaurentis
JAMES by Jimmy DeLaurentis also collaborated with Assouline, a luxury book brand, as well as Joe Cariati, a hand-blown glass artist. Both brands had items throughout the JAMES showroom.
“..The interior spaces I design always include bold – often unexpected – elements, whether it is a statement piece of art, or a combination of unique details that create added interest,” he explained.
According to DeLaurentis, the brand decided to collaborate with Assouline and Cariati in order to “help customers create signature spaces in their interior design projects.”
JAMES by Jimmy DeLaurentis is no stranger to tradeshows.
“In the design business, nothing is better than meeting with my customers face to face and especially this Market – after being apart for more than a year – High Point was just what I think we all needed,” he said.
The Philadelphia native has over 25 years of experience. After originally working for the creative team at Ralph Lauren, he went on to design homes and businesses for A-list clientele. In 2016, DeLaurentis launched JAMES by Jimmy DeLaurentis after seeing a void in the market for custom, luxury home furnishings.
DeLaurentis says the best way for new designers to put themselves on the map is “being bold and finding a niche.”
