Novità Hosts Summer Party at Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park

Marketing and communications agency Novità hosted the brand’s 23rd birthday party last night at the spectacular tree-lined Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island, New York.

The House Tipster Industry team was on the scene to hear all about the agency’s last year of accomplishments and milestones – including the appropriately-named 20-year anniversary of the Humanscale Freedom Chair. The celebration also introduced new clients to join the agency’s impressive roster. Christine Abbate, the president of Novità Communications, was excited to introduce this tranquil and relaxing park as part of new work ahead.

“We take this time in the summer to celebrate the wonderful growth of our firm and our people, but also our clients,” Abbate said. “We are part of the design world and design industry, [from] people that are building buildings, are designing interiors – both commercial and residential – and are teaching or curating exhibits on design. We pull them all together for this one event.”

“This year, we decided to [host the party] at the park, because we are going to be working with them as a new client,” Abbate added. “The park was designed by Louis Kahn, and has been open for about four years now. It’s this wonderful triangular shape at the tip of Roosevelt Island – and it includes a view of three boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. It’s a sublime space [and] is a fantastic way to view the city.”

Howard Axel, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park CEO, expressed that this scenic location’s history and future goals are richly profound.

“It has been an incredible experience to join this incredible architecture, that’s a great monument, to programming which is all about the Four Freedoms: freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, freedom from fear, and freedom from want,” Axel shared.

“I think [these are] particularly important notions right now in our political climate, so the idea that a great piece of architecture that brings people to think about those ideas in the center of the world, New York City, has been a great honor and great fun.”

Plus, the park is filled with American history and special meanings.

“The park is 1,500 feet from the United Nations, and Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt were the people who came up with the idea for the United Nations,” Axel added. “The location of this park reminds you of the importance of a world without a World War.”

“The architecture is a place of great solemnity, but also great peace and quiet,” Axel said. “It’s one of the few places you can go in New York City and have great peace and self-reflection.”

The summer party brought out more stellar Novità clients to enjoy the peaceful destination, including representatives from the American Society of Interior Design like Joseph Cephas, vice president of communications and brand experience. ASID is hard at work on new research – including the impact of design on the human experience. This party was the perfect place for members and clients to connect!
