Hunter Douglas Unveils Two New Technologies

Hunter Douglas, North America’s leading manufacturer of custom window treatments, unveiled two new technologies in November 2018: a revolutionary blackout window shade and a system to keep window coverings on tilt-turn windows in place.

The Duette® Honeycomb Shades LightLock system utilizes U-shaped side channels that effectively block out natural light. The technology-infused side channels (patent-pending) feature rows of micro-ridges that either absorb or deflect all incoming light, resulting in a 100% “blackout” experience never seen before on the market.

Pair any of the ¾” Duette® fabric choices with one of three LightLock channel finishes, including Aspen White, Gardenia White, and Bronze. These versatile channels are designed to blend in with an exciting window frame and various design aesthetics.

“Duette with LightLock provides homeowners with 100% total darkness for improved sleep, the perfect movie-watching environment, as well as insulation at the window to control heat and save on energy bills,” states a representative from Hunter Douglas.

Because bowing and sagging are common problems when using window coverings with tilt-turn windows, Hunter Douglas has also unveiled a solution to keep Duette® Honeycomb Shades in place. With Hunter Douglas’ new Duette® TrackGlide with LiteRise®, shades stay snug against the window glass regardless of how the window is positioned.

This innovative system installs easily with adhesive, not hardware, and is available in four colors meant to match the existing window hardware: Brass, Bronze, Pewter, and White. The end result is cleanly dressed turn-tilt windows.

“The system is one-of-a-kind in the industry and is the only window covering solution for tilt-turn windows without exposed, side-tensioned cords.”
