The Dunn-Edwards Color of the Year 2020 is Minty Fresh, which is now highlighted as the Color of the Month.
During the month of March, the paint brand expects the spring-ready shade Minty Fresh DE5687 to stand out as an influential pastel. Of course, with St. Patrick’s Day on the horizon, bold green will reign supreme, but it’s also a critical hue of renewal as bitterly cold weather gives way to new plant life and nature blooms.
“March’s color of the month, Minty Fresh, was also a key color in our 2020 color trends story ‘Free and Free,’ which highlights movement in innovation, tranquility, and a desire for transparency,” Dunn-Edwards shared on its website.
The shade looks particularly beautiful paired with brand-recommended neutrals like Milk Glass DEW358 and Muslin DE6227, or coordinating greens like Garden Shed DE5624, Aloe Mist DE5666, and Pale Cactus DE5673. But this light green color has remained a tried-and-true classic over several design eras, which makes it easy to work into many existing design schemes.
“Mint hues were largely popular for decades, from the 1920s Art Deco period through the ’50s, and so it’s a color as versatile as the design it highlights,” the brand added. “It complements curves and feminine shapes as much as it looks great on the walls of an ice cream shop, or on a Mid-century home’s front door or even a breeze block wall.”
