To kick off the new year in style, the paint authority is highlighting Naval S644, the brand’s official Color of the Year 2020. “People want to feel grounded and inspired to pursue their mental, physical and emotional well-being,” Sue Wadden, the director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams, said in a press release. “Naval is reminiscent of the night sky, which people have looked to for centuries for guidance, as a muse and as a reminder to live more mindfully.”

“We’re predicting that the next decade in color is going to be bold. This year we saw the return of the ‘70s, and next year we think the vibrant energy and luxurious design of speakeasies will make a comeback,” Wadden added.

So, how does the brand recommend this impactful shade be used in 2020? Of course, a classic shade like Naval easily suits any color palette your heart can dream up, but pretty neutrals can elevate the shade instantly.

“This deep, confident hue pairs well with coordinating shades Alexandrite SW 0060, Emotional SW 6621 (118-C5), Touch of Sand SW 9085 (199-C1) and Tassel SW 6369 (128-C5), a palette equipped to inspire elegant, refined living spaces,” the brand shared on social media.
